The majority of Afghans residing in Austria today only came to Austria as a result of the refugee migration of recent years. This presentation will first provide a brief overview of the evolution of Afghan refugee migration. Subsequently, various aspects of the Afghan community in Vienna are examined in more detail, such as the socio-cultural differentiation of Afghan immigrants, the existence of associations and the regional distribution within the city.
