“During the ongoing extension procedure the applicant is legally resident in Austria until a decision is made by the authority. The third-country national has the same rights as when he/she held the residence permit, i.e. he/she has the same access to the labor market as before.”
From July 1, 2025, the deadline for re-registration with the AMS will change
Attention:
From July 1, 2025, you must report to the AMS immediately after an interruption (e.g. stay abroad, sick leave, etc.) – your money will only be paid out from the day you (re-)report. The re-registration can only be made via eAMS, by telephone or in person.
In the case of sick leave, a doctor’s sick note is always required from the 1st day. Proof must be submitted to your AMS
